Souls are smeared upon slate canvas
For the ideal, red on worn black
Life is torn, scavenged
All for this, and we are to blame
Why is this so, that we are to blame
Stares wide-eyed, how is this fate
But it’s not fate it’s murder
It’s all because of you and me
That they are going to die
-------------------------------
I used run, I used to fly
Used to soar up in the sky
I used to climb, up in the trees
Feel the air, the cool breeze
I used to rule the wooded beyond
But it’s you who ruled all along
And now I’m gone
I used to breathe
I used to live
It’s all because of you
We’re going to die

I don't mean to be a "first albums only" elitist or anything of the sort since I didn't even discover these guys til maybe a year and change ago, but truth be told- the demo tracks are my favorites despite Deafheaven's undeniable growth and evolution into a broader sort of awesome. satangutsandchristcorpsepaint
The stygian duo explore themes of gender dysphoria and oppressive institutions through sludgy doom with a pitch-black underbelly. Bandcamp Album of the Day Apr 26, 2021
I've finally got Black Line on physical copy and this record actually blew my mind. There's so much beauty to this album but also its so crushingly heavy and extreme in an audio sense, Respire don't hold back they just let everything go and beyond, amazing!! Darknight
